Acknowledgement of Country

We would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land we meet today and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples here today.

Our Mission

At Westbourne College, we are an Indigenous owned and run company. All of our staff either identify as Indigenous or have completed cultural awareness courses and have experience working with Indigenous communities. We are committed to improving the educational outcomes and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students so that they excel and achieve in every aspect of their education.

Our knowledge and understanding of culture, way of life and tradition is embedded in our courses and by combining this experience with a thorough assessment and delivery practices, we ensure that our students achieve academic excellence in their studies.

Our vocational education and training courses are designed to increase indigenous employment, retention, reskilling, upskilling and career progression.

At Westbourne, our vision is to transform the lives of indigenous people and build healthier communities through quality education.

Mentor Program

Our qualified mentors have an understanding of how best to deliver courses to suit the learning styles of the students at Westbourne College. Our team offers both social and cultural support including activities and events for students to attend.

At the commencement of their course, each student will sit down with a suitable mentor to establish a learning plan that covers the student’s learning needs, support, and goals. Your studies will be a smooth and enjoyable process, with regular catch-ups with our mentors’ support team and tutorial assistance to keep you on track.

Beaudie Cullen

Beaudie is a proud Wangarra man who is strong in his Aboriginal culture. He was raised in Inala, located south-west of Brisbane, in Queensland.

Beaudie is the Managing Director of Westbourne College, a Nationally Recognised Training Organisation with a rich background in Training and Education, delivering accredited qualifications across a wide range of industries.

Beaudie joined the NSW Police Force at 18 years old. Over his 17-year career with NSW Police, Beaudie has investigated significant criminal matters, coordinated large Police operations and received the Rotary Community Police officer of the year award for work in the community.

Beaudie case managed hundreds of young offenders and youth at risk while attached to the NSW Police Youth command. He ran culture-specific programs for Aboriginal youth with exceptional outcomes for indigenous communities across the state of NSW.

Beaudie was afforded very few educational opportunities during his youth. His grounding in these disadvantaged circumstances ignited his passion for success, provided support and assistance to those within his culture.

Beaudie is continually and deliberately entrenched in Aboriginal culture, people and communities. He has never abandoned nor left his roots behind, only continued to do everything in his power to enhance the lives and opportunities of his people. He has a great understanding of what is involved in mentoring his community in the education field to obtain desired outcomes.

He is very passionate about providing this network of support for Indigenous people throughout NSW, and ultimately Australia. He currently runs a free fitness and program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and mentors every Monday, Saturday and Sunday mornings from a local high school and community. The program has been highly successful in assisting those with mental health issues and supporting educational outcomes.
